The Family

Ok so after living in Zambia and the US, where family was very limited, I come here and at first was overwhelmed with the family. That only lasted a few hours...

I would say so far, we have a very Bengali family with enough aunts, uncles, cousins and their kids to start our own village or even a cult. Bengali in the sense that we seem to find any excuse to get together and yap and laugh and some even cry at the drop of a dime. We have the comedian, the serious ones, the fun ones, the traveler, the storyteller and the artists. Something I have learned is almost every Bengali woman will take singing lessons and are very proud of how well they or their daughters sing, even if it means giving you a migraine or just make you def. Also a family gathering is never complete without about 5 rounds of tea and constant cooking and eating.. which I definitely don't mind.

honestly its fun having so many characters in the family and it takes a little getting used to but so far no regrets. Our family members are extremely dramatic too but I guess that comes with being a Bengali. A five minute story seems to turn into a whole screen play.

Anyway more about the family later. For now this is just a little information on what I have landed in. Overall most of this family keeps you busy with something.
