Today was quite interesting and we left home mid morning to get some things done. What Ive learned today is that you can not get a simple thing like getting your phone service back just by going to one place. Firstly they cut the home phone even though we dont use it and all because the bill sent to us was Rs 70 less than what we were meant to pay. I guess we were meant to have a vision about that. Anyway first to one office to be told we have to go to the head office.
The head office for our region in Maniktala (Its literally a 5 mile / 45 min drive from our house) is just plain dirty with Pun spit on the corners of the stairs but I think thats normal with everyone spitting in these government offices. Anyway first pay down stairs and then go upstairs to get more stuff done and after an hour and a half it was all done. No there was no line... the hour and a half is just how long the government employees take. I had to stand around for the old lady behind the counter to finish her story about her daughters wedding. The whole thing reminded me of DMV and those annoying ladies who work there.
Anyway after that to New Market was an adventure. This was my third time going there but the other two times were during week day mornings when its not as crowded. It took over an hour to find parking but the best part was the crowd. Today was the normal weekend crowd..... Picture Time Square on New Years Eve and the outside temperature is over 95 degrees. I have some pics to post up. Oddly everyone seems to be outside even though its hot as hell and there were barely any people inside.
Anyway New Market, for anyone who does not know, is not so new. Right behind Grand Hotel, I think, and its a cross between China Town and a flee market. You have to bargain to get everything but strangely you can find almost any odd thing you are looking for. Its almost like ebay.... All I wanted there was Egg roll so I waited around till 4 p.m. to get it. Yes I think it is that good and one of the best Ive had.

arindam you will grow to LOVE New Market: I mean how can you not. Also please go to Nizams which is behind the market ( ask anyone) and eat kathi rolls, it will be totally worth the trip.

Kiran thanks for the tip, and my tour guides confirm it was Nizams. Thats where I sent and waited for it the other day. they open at 4 pm now :).
