Next Stop Indian Museum

As if the jewelry store wasn't surprise enough, we decided to go to the Indian Museum. Walking through the rain and traffic wasn't that bad and I did get a foot infection from the dirt but that can easily be overlooked.

So anyway after the entrance fee of Rs 10 per person, my friend argued her way into letting us in with her bag. All that work and we are told we only have 45 minutes in the museum. I don't think I was too surprised to notice that we were the only ones actually looking around and rest of the people were just romancing. Oh well... they have some very nice artifacts and since we only managed to cover one section of the museum there really isn't much to say.

Firstly upon entering you come into the courtyard which is beautiful but with a little more maintainance and maybe raising some money with private corporate functions, like what the museums in NYC and DC does, they will have the ability to take a little better care of the artifacts. You cant take photos in there but being the ignorant tourist here is the one and only pic of the courtyard.

Anyway a few more observations and I was surprised to see that there were just as many cobwebs as artifacts and they should really take better care of some of these items from thousands of years ago. The only room with heavy security and air conditioning was the one with parts of an ancient Buddhist temple put it. Why so much security there, who the hell is going to steal anything from there. But then again knowing Hindus, they might just take a chip for prayer purposes :).

Anyway we managed to leave just in time before we got locked in and as usual just upon exit, Kolkata bloody birds again located and pooped on me. So many people and I am not sure how they manage to find me and poop on me while flying.

So the walk back to my friends place was basically me with poop, semi wet from the drizzle, dirt on my feet to give anyone typhoid and an interesting afternoon overall. I don't think I would have enjoyed it any other way :).
