The depression known as TV shows !!!!!!!

So I have said this before and I am going to say it again. Majority of the Indian TV shows are quite depressing. People seem to smile a lot less or maybe I notice than more since I am more of a comedy kind of guy. Anyway most shows about 30 minutes long and here is how it is broken down......

actual show - 15 minutes - of the 15 minutes, its 8 minutes of crying, 4 minutes of fighting and talking and and 3 minutes of facial expression and dramatic camera turns that leave you feeling nauseous and dizzy. The remaining 15 minutes are random commercials most of them repeated in a loop. I guess someone has to pay for this depression.

One Hindi show I have been following about a super rich and very colorful family is quite interesting and again there is no smiling, just anger and depression but the best part is the main actress, for the last three and a half months she has had the same facial expression. I can understand she is not happy with her husband and all but come on is there any reason to show your depression with a constipation look on your face for three months?? All I can say is, she is gonna need some serious botox after this show.

Then there is the Bengali show, dadagiri ( I think Im spelling it wrong ), anyway it basically a bad combination of jeopardy and trivial pursuit. The setting and concept is good but the host is a total snooze fest, some famous cricket player. I understand the show is also done in several different languages here in India and hosted by famous celebrities. Anyway maybe if I knew a little more about India and understood better Bengali, I might enjoy it.

While I am used to prime time being from 8 p.m. onwards, prime-time here seems to be from 9:00p.m. onwards and can even fall in the 11 p.m. catagory, but that maybe because people eat dinner a lot later and go to bed a lot later than what I have been used to so far. Minor adjustment and I can live with it. BUT PLEASE HAVE A FEW MORE INTERESTING SHOWS SO PEOPLE CAN RELATE TO THEM... A LITTLE MORE REALISTIC DOES NOT HURT.

There are shows I like and watch, actually other than BBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, HBO and other similar channels, there is a show on a Bengali channel that's quite interesting. The actors and actresses are great and the story from what I understand is based on an old novel and is a remake. Basically its about a young girl who gets married at a very young age, she has no interest in the family life and wants to continue her education. This is at a time women were looked down on if they were able to read and write and showed any interest in education. So she continues reading and learning in secret and is tortured by her husbands family. though she is liked in the family she makes the most of it. Its actually done quite well with some humor. Anyway the bottom line is she will eventually leave her house and join the movement for independence.

So lets see what the next three months have to offer.
